Barbara H. McCrary
- 2022 Engineered Systems Magazine 20 Women to Watch in HVAC Winner. Selections are made from a long list of nominees, with winners representing all levels of the industry, from entry-level to company CEOs. - 2021 Engineer of the Year from the Engineering Council of Birmingham, for outstanding contribution to the community and to the Engineering Profession. In order to be nominated for this award, Barbara was first nominated for and awarded 2021 ASHRAE Chapter Engineer of the Year for outstanding achievements in the application of heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning technology.
- 2016 University of Alabama Distinguished Mechanical Engineering Fellow. This honor is the highest commendation given to Mechanical Engineering graduates who have strengthened the reputation of the Department through their efforts, and have advanced the engineering profession through their leadership and abilities.
- 2013 Birmingham ASHRAE Chapter Young Engineer of the Year, for outstanding achievements in the application of heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning technology.
- 2006 ASHRAE Willis H. Carrier Award for a best paper presented at an ASHRAE meeting in 2006, by a member age 32 years and younger, for her paper “Environmental Impacts of Surface Water Heat Pump Systems”, co-authored with Dr. Steve Kavanaugh and Dr. Derek Williamson, both of the Unversity of Alabama.
- 2006 ASHRAE Poster Presentation Award for the best poster presentation from the 2006 Winter and Annual Meetings, for the same paper mentioned above, published in ASHRAE Transactions. The research associated with this paper was part of Barbara’s Master’s Thesis at the University of Alabama.
Tom L. Hattemer
- 2006 Engineering Council of Birmingham’s Engineer of the Year 2006 nominee for outstanding contribution to the community and to the Engineering Profession.
- 2005 as a University of Alabama Distinguished Mechanical Engineering Fellow. HHB Engineers
The Design Team at HHB, with Tom Hattemer PE as Engineer of Record for these projects, has received both Regional and National awards from the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) for HVAC related designs. These include:
