Tom Hattemer, PE founded HHB Engineers, P.C. in 1983, and has been involved in the building construction consulting engineering field since 1981. He has been an integral part of HHB being recognized as a premier engineering firm in Alabama. Mr. Hattemer has provided project management for several client relationships including government agencies (GSA, Navy, VA and Corps of Engineers) and the University of Alabama Tuscaloosa main campus and Birmingham Campus (UAB). He has a proven record of managing mechanical and electrical renovation contracts for these clients. Mr. Hattemer provides innovative engineering solutions with emphasis on constructability, energy efficiency, and ease of maintenance.
Mr. Hattemer has extensive experience with a wide range of mechanical systems including:
- Chilled water plants and distribution systems
- Steam plants and distribution systems
- HVAC systems
- Heat Recovery Systems
- Fire Suppression Systems
- General Plumbing, Laboratories and Fuel distribution
- Specialty piping systems
He was awarded a National Technology award (1996) from the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) for energy improvements on the 18,000-ton chilled water distribution at UAB, and a regional technology award for upgrades to the UAB’s President’s residence (Woodward House).
Mr. Hattemer received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Alabama in 1977 and completed postgraduate studies in 1981. In 2005, he was inducted as a Distinguished Mechanical Engineering Fellow at the University of Alabama.
Mr. Hattemer is a licensed engineer in Alabama and is an AABC ACG Certified Commissioning Authority.
