Scope: The renovation and upgrade to the 2nd Floor Cardiac Services area at Jackson Hospital was completed in two Phases. Phase 1 was completed in 2007 and consisted of renovation of existing exam and related support spaces into a heart Catheterization Lab, the 2nd for the Hospital. A new control room was also added for Cath Lab #2. An existing AHU was rebalanced to accommodate the air change requirements for the Cath Lab.
Phase 2 will be completed in 2012 and includes the renovation of 9,700 sf, adjacent to the area renovated for Cath Lab #2, for a new Cath Lab #3, administration space, waiting area, and pre/post-op. A new air handling unit with new addition for the mechanial room was required due to the air change requirements for the newly renovated spaces. The AHU includes HEPA filtration.
Extention of the existing medical gases in the building was required for each renovation, including medical air, medical oxygen, and vacuum.
Each project (Phase 1 and Phase 2) was completed while maintaining occupancy in the adjacent spaces. Dust control measures were required including installing temporary supply and exhaust ductwork to maintain positive or negative pressure in certain spaces during construction. Each project was also split into multiple construction phases to accommodate continued occupancy.
The fire suppression sprinkler system was modified as needed for each renovation, including new sprinkler heads where required.
HHB Engineers served as the Mechanical, Plumbing, and Fire Protection engineering consultant for each renovation project.
