Installation of Steam & Chilled Water Meters
Hattemer, Hornsby & Bailey (HHB) served as the Engineer of Record for the installation of water meters at all UAB buildings served from the Chilled Water Plant, and buildings served from Alabama Power Company 150-psig steam. Project features included:
- Insertion type chilled water meters with temperature transmitters at most locations.
- Magnetic chilled water meters with reduced diameter meter run and bypass at selected locations.
- Vortex type steam meters with reduced diameter meter run and bypass at a majority of locations. Additional instrumentation included pressure and temperature. Many locations required installation of steam traps prior to the meter run.
