Renovations to Coleman Coliseum

Hattemer, Hornsby & Bailey (HHB) served as the Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing and Fire Protection Engineering consultants and was responsible for all aspects of the new and upgrade of existing Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning (HVAC) system electrical systems, fire detection & alarm systems, plumbing and fire protection systems.

Scope: Coleman Coliseum is home to the Crimson Tide basketball, volleyball, and gymnastics teams. The Coliseum seats more than 15,000 for basketball games and frequently hosts UA events such as commencement exercises and class registration.

The building also houses Athletics Department offices, the President’s reception area, an auxiliary gymnasium, an equipment room, weight rooms, a steam bath, a training room, food service areas, a photo studio, and locker room facilities.

The renovated Coliseum includes spacious and bright atrium areas for fans with expanded concessions, facilities, and a modernized look. The modernization of Coleman Coliseum significantly expanded the front lobby, including increasing the space allotted to operations of the Ticket Office. In addition, display areas have been established to recognize Coleman benefactors. The HVAC, electrical, life safety systems, plumbing and fire protection systems were replaced and upgraded to enhance the exiting and new areas.
