Construction of the new state-of-the-art Sports and Nutrition Facility for the University of Alabama Athletics program is complete and will be open to Athletes soon. HHB Engineers are the Mechanical Engineering consultants for the project, providing Mechanical (HVAC, Plumbing, Fire Protection) design for the facility and construction administration services, on a team led by Davis Architects in Birmingham, AL. The 25,000 SF two-story facility is an addition to the Mal Moore Athletic Facility, and faces Bryant Drive.
Official photos and a video were released by Athletics on the Alabama Football Twitter feed, click here. Photos and more information was also published on the Saturday Down South website here.
The facility is two stories, with the main kitchen and serving area on the first floor, and secondary serving area and demonstration cooking area on the 2nd floor. Each floor has large dining areas. The 2nd floor has a balcony that overlooks the football practice field, as well as a private dining space. Sports Nutrition offices are also in the new facility on the 2nd floor, allowing convenient access to players and coaches.
The HVAC System is a chiller/boiler system with an air cooled chiller and natural gas hydronic boilers. Variable volume air handling units with VAV boxes provide air to the spaces.
